Kelly Clarkson And Carrie Underwood Had The Best Response To A Poll Pitting Them Against Each Other

"Whatever, girl, I voted for you!"

Both Kelly Clarkson and Carrie Underwood are talented singers who launched their American Idol wins into successful careers. But you should think twice about pitting them against each other, as evidenced by their response to a recent Twitter poll.

The poll asked fans to vote on which of the two artists they think is the "most iconic" American Idol champ by tweeting with the hashtag #TeamKellyClarkson or #TeamCarrieUnderwood. In a matter of hours, both Clarkson and Underwood responded, complimenting each other and challenging the tendency to put famous women in competition with each other.

"I think we're both winning in life and pretty blessed!" wrote Clarkson "Singers, mamas, CEO's...." She added the hashtag #AmbitiousBlondes.

Less than 15 minutes later, Underwood responded by joking, "Whatever, girl, I voted for you!" She added, "But seriously, I do wish more publications would just celebrate women's success without pitting them against each other."

Several fans showed their support for the two women by tweeting with both hashtags, with one fan writing that the singers are "both pretty iconic," and adding that "they're both incredibly successful and wonderful people."

They're not the first female artists to push back against fans or the media putting them in competition with each other. Recently, after some of Taylor Swift's fans interpreted singer Hayley Kiyoko to have thrown shade at her fellow artist, Swift shut down any potential drama by defending Kiyoko's comments.

"[Heart emoji] and respect to @taylorswift13 and all the brave artists out there sharing their truth with the world," Kiyoko tweeted in response to Swift's support. "I appreciate you. We keep climbing."
