To Celebrate African-American Music Appreciation Month, Senator Kamala Harris Wants To Help You Get Your Groove On With Epic Spotify Playlist

And all your favorites are on it.

What does Kamala Harris listen to when she's not listening to her male colleagues interrupt her? The answer is, unsurprisingly, powerful, progressive, and just plain catchy.

The Democratic senator of California — and all-around badass — created a Spotify playlist celebrating the musical talent and contributions of both prominent and up-and-coming Black artists in honor of African-American Music Appreciation Month

And yeah, it's just as good as it sounds.

Kamala Harris may or may not be jamming out to a song from her Spotify playlist in front of her campaign bus.

Featuring everyone from Pharrell to Janelle Monáe to Chance the Rapper, and all modern Black artists thankful for the influence of past Black artists, this 50-song playlist is one star-studded hit after another.

The only thing missing from this playlist is Harris's voice shouting "DJ Kamala" in the style of DJ Khaled at the beginning of each track. Otherwise, it's not just pitch perfect, but culturally significant. "Our nation has an indelible soundtrack, songs that have become anthems recognized across the world," Harris said in a statement to Blavity. "Much of that soundtrack is inspired and informed by the vast contributions of African-American artists in jazz, R&B, rap, hip-hop, and beyond."

Besides choosing an eclectic and, let's just say it, bangin' mix of African-American artists, Harris also chose to make the playlist available on Spotify, enabling anyone, anywhere to access it and share with friends for free.

"No matter where you are from or what you look like, music is a bond that can bring us all together," she added. "To celebrate African-American music is to dance, sing, and even march to the rhythms that have long served as vehicles for honesty, inspiration, struggle, success and joy."

Anyone with a Spotify account can listen (on repeat) to Harris' "#AAMAM - All Time Favorites" playlist instantly and even follow her official user account, senatorkamalaharris.

Though it's her first and only public playlist, we certainly hope it's not DJ Kamala's last one. After all, July 4 is right around the corner ...
