This Cosplayer Spent A Week Dressing Up As Disney Characters And His Costumes Are Spot-On

Wait until you see how awesome his Emperor Kuzco look is.

You're never too young or too old to enjoy the art of dress up. From "low-cost cosplay" to this retired couple who matches their impressive costumes, we've shared a lot of stories of people of all ages having a spectacular time with costume play. And, with New York Comic Con just a few weeks away, we're excited to see our city filled with others joining in on the fun.

Until then, there's plenty of great cosplayers showing off their best looks on social media.

Last week, Jonathan Stryker, who goes by J Stryker online, spent each day dressing up as a different male Disney character. From Prince Eric to Flynn Rider, his costumes and facial expressions were completely spot-on.

"I've been a huge geek since I was little. I have two older brothers that were heavily into games, anime, comic books, et cetera, so I absorbed all their geekiness and just grew up with it," Stryker told A Plus. "Eventually, I went to my first convention in 2006 and dressed up. Being surrounded by people that loved the same shit I did made it really special, so I've been going ever since. Eventually, I just got better and better and making things, and now I cosplay regularly."

Recently, Stryker went on a road trip around the country by himself after a difficult breakup. "It was the best thing I've ever done," he said. "It really inspired me to step out of my box and try new things."

Although Stryker has been cosplaying anime characters since he was little, Disney Week was exciting and new for him.

"Sure enough it blew up and I really enjoyed turning myself into characters I grew up watching," he said. "People really loved it. I think everyone is used to seeing female cosplayers doing Disney and not so many males, so it was something different."

He spent about 30 minutes to an hour doing the makeup for each look, but putting together the rest of the costume isn't always easy. "Flynn Rider took me like 20 hours, 'cause that vest was hell," Stryker said. "But characters like Prince Eric and Tarzan were quick looks I pulled together in an hour or two."

Once he's happy with the look, he imitates the character's facial expressions and takes photos in his room with a remote. He later shares them on social media along with positive messages for his audience.

"My main message as of recently has been that you must always prioritize your own happiness and love yourself first, otherwise you can't love anyone else," Stryker said. "I'm at a great place in my life, focused, and I'm ready to welcome new beginnings."

After Disney Week was such a success, he decided to follow up with Cartoon Network Week. We can't wait to see what he comes up with.
