Chrissy Teigen Couldn't Be Prouder Of John Legend's Latest Historic Achievement

"My incredible man."

On Sunday night, John Legend won his first Emmy for NBC's live production of Jesus Christ Superstar. The win, during the Creative Arts Emmys ceremony, marked a historic moment for Legend, as he became the first Black man to achieve EGOT status (winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony).

Of course, no one was happier for Legend than his wife Chrissy Teigen, who posted on social media all night expressing her pride. That included a sweet Instagram photo in which she kisses Legend on the cheek as he holds his trophy. She captioned the image, "my incredible man. what a surreal life."

Legend told Entertainment Tonight that Teigen even rearranged her busy schedule to make sure she was there to support him in case he won. "She was supposed to be taping Lip Sync Battle while we were here," he explained, "and she convinced her producers to push the second show back so she could come here in between shows and see if we would win this EGOT."

"I was hoping that I would not disappoint her and make her trip a waste of time," he added. "She was very supportive and I'm glad we made it worth her while."

Teigen posted a video on Sunday night showing Legend placing the new Emmy on his shelf of awards. When he was first nominated in July, she joked on Twitter, "If he wins, he will complete his EGOT and my spike tv award will probably be moved. But it's ok I AM SO PROUD!"

As proud as she clearly was over Legend's win, Teigen still couldn't help but crack a joke, captioning the touching video, "And I say hey, what a wonderful kind of day." It's a reference to the children's TV show Arthur, and the resemblance many have pointed out between Legend and the cartoon aardvark.

Legend's fellow winners Andrew Lloyd Weber and Tim Rice, who penned the musical's songs, also reached EGOT status with Sunday's wins. As Legend captioned a photo of the three of them on Instagram, "So happy to be part of this team. So honored they trusted me to play Jesus Christ. So amazed to be in such rarefied air."

The singer still has a chance to win a second Emmy this year. He's also nominated for his performance in Jesus Christ Superstar as part of the awards' main ceremony, which will take place on September 17.
