'Star Wars' Actor John Boyega Had The Right Idea When It Came To Making His First Big Purchase

"I ... think that's giving back to my king and my queen."

Even though John Boyega's onscreen character Finn is traveling throughout the galaxies in the latest Star Wars trilogy, it's clear he will never forget where he comes from. The actor recently revealed his first big purchase since finding fame was buying his parents a new home — a moving way to show them how much they mean to him.

"I bought my mom and dad a house! I mean that's a way to do it," the 25-year-old told Entertainment Tonight at the red carpet premiere of Detroit on July 25 when asked about his craziest purchase since making it big and becoming a household name. "You know, I also think that's giving back to my king and my queen. So that's what I did."

Boyega recently opened up about his parents — Samson and Abigail — in GQ's latest cover story, telling the magazine about how they had met in Nigeria, immigrated to South London, and raised three children. They were in the Peckham district — which was mostly full of immigrants and working class folks — and got by thanks to preaching and helping the disabled. "My mom and dad have been together for 25 years, so that's the system I will follow," Boyega explained.

When it comes to the feeling of now starring in the continuation of one of the biggest film franchises of all time and working with lauded directors such as Kathryn Bigelow, Boyega is serious about the platform and calls it a "huge blessing" but also a "huge responsibility."

"It's strange, because you've been working towards the success for so long and to see it manifest, it's a huge blessing," Boyega shared. "But at the same time, a huge responsibility, 'cause not everybody gets this opportunity."

What an excellent way to use the Force for good.
