A Student Wrote An Essay About Wanting To Meet J.K. Rowling. So The Author Sent Some Gifts.

"I hope you like them."

J.K. Rowling may have created one of the most beautiful fantasy worlds ever — that of Harry Potter, of course — but her efforts within the real world have spoken volumes as well.

Earlier this year, a 12-year-old aspiring writer from a remote village in Jammu, India, wrote an essay about wanting to meet J.K. Rowling. The 12-year-old, Kulsum Banoo Batt, wrote that she was "... not inspired by J.K. Rowling only because she writes well" but "... also because she has come through many difficulties but she didn't give up. May Allah bless J.K. Rowling and give her a long life so that when I grow up I want to meet her (sic)," The Print reported. The publication also explained that Kulsum is part of her family's first generation to learn English. She studies at Haji Public School in Breswana

Batt's teacher then shared her student's essay on Twitter, tagging Rowling:

Rowling replied, asking for some contact information:

Now, just a couple of months later, a package arrived at the school.

"Hello, world. So [J.K. Rowling] sent a huge gift box for Kulsum and friends. Handwritten note, inscribed book, and this is almost too much to handle. We are so thrilled and squeaky, I cannot even," Batt's teacher tweeted. "Thank you so much, Ms. Rowling."

Attached to the tweet is another one featuring photos from the special day:

In the photos, Kulsum can be seen opening up the gifts alongside her fellow smiling classmates. There's a Hedwig statue from the Harry Potter Magical Creatures series, a copy of Rowling's Very Good Lives: The Fringe Benefits of Failure and the Importance of Imagination, and the Harry Potter Illustrated Collection, among other gifts.

As The Print reports, a video posted as part of the thread of tweets showed the "a gushing and smiling Kulsum" reading the notes from Rowling, including one that reportedly read: "I have sent some things. I hope you like them. I am also impressed by your English. It would be an honor to meet you one day. With Love."

We hope Kulsum enjoys her gifts and continues her pursuit as a writer — and gets to meet the Harry Potter author herself one day!
