Jimmy Fallon's New Year's #ResolutionFail Tweets Remind Us It's The Thought That Counts

Resolutions aren't easy.

If you made a New Year's resolution for 2017, you might be finding it difficult to keep — and you're not alone. Sometimes we set our sights too high and are disappointed in the results. But the very fact that we set out to better ourselves in the first place, no matter how far we get, has to count for something. And as Jimmy Fallon proved this week in his very first "Hashtags" segment of the year, we're not alone.

Jimmy asked his viewers to share how they've broken a New Year's resolution with the hashtag #ResolutionFail. He got the ball rolling with this ironic story:

The host shared some of his favorite tweets on The Tonight Show Thursday night, and they're hilariously relatable. Fans shared not only how their resolutions have fallen through, but also the unconventional measures they've taken to make things easier on themselves — for example, putting the subtitles on the TV as a way to read more.

It's a nice reminder that we're all human, and it's OK to fail. In fact, sometimes failure can teach us more about ourselves than success. Even if that involves getting stuck in a baby swing and having to call the fire department.
