After A Terrible Accident, Mom Posts Photo Of Her Kids' Unscathed Car Seats To Get A Vital Point Across

"My boys escaped without a scratch, but the paramedics told me it could have been very different ... "

The safety of our kids is so important, which is why many parents are keen to share their advice to help others. Tips that are especially appreciated among parents often have to do with car seat safety as the leading cause of death in the United States for children ages 3 to 14 years old is vehicle crashes.

In an effort to show others the importance of car seat safety, mom Jenna Casado Rabberman shared a post on Facebook highlighting why parents should ensure proper measures every single time.

On Facebook, the mom from Pennsylvania explained she normally isn't one to post personal things, but she had to share this.

Her post included a photo of her two kids' car seats placed in front of her totaled car,  She explained that on the way from the kids' preschool, the family stopped to get some milk. They were minutes from home when another car slammed into them.

"THIS is why you buckle your kids into their car seats correctly every SINGLE time," she captioned the photo. "Even when they scream because the straps are tight. Even when they complain about the chest clip or being rear-facing."

Thankfully, her two sons — who are 6 weeks old and almost 3 years old — were completely OK, but she reveals that things could have been very different.

"My boys escaped without a scratch, but the paramedics told me it could have been very different had I not taken the extra two minutes to be sure they were buckled correctly."

Since the post was shared on September 26, it has gone viral with over 213,000 shares in 48 hours.

The mom-of-two has been surprised by the response, but she hopes it will help others. "I never expected this post to be seen by so many people! I really only posted it for family and friends, but hopefully it will save a life by making someone think twice about buckling their child in," she wrote.

Other parents have also gone viral for their car seat safety tips. Earlier this year, two paramedics showed how tight the straps on a car seat should really be while a chiropractor showed the correct way parents should carry a car seat.

All the car seat safety tips are so important as the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC ) reports that car seats reduce the risk of death in crashes by 71 percent in infants, and by 54 percent in toddlers 1 to 4. Similarly, booster seats reduce the risk of serious injury by 45 percent in kids 4 to 8.

In 2015 alone, restraints saved the lives of 266 kids 4 years old or younger. Additionally, the CDC estimates that between 1975 and 2015, child restraints saved an estimated 10,940 lives of kids ages 4 and younger.
