Jon Newman took a vow to stick by his wife's side "in sickness and in health" and it's clear he's taking that vow very seriously.

His wife, Marci, has thyroid cancer which spread to her lymph nodes and attached to her trachea. She had surgery to have it removed, and had to stay isolated in her room during her cancer radiation treatment. Jon wanted to keep her company, so he set up a desk and chair right outside her door.

"Jon goes to every doctor's appointment, every blood test, every surgery, every radiation," Marci told BuzzFeed News. "And, as you can see, if he can't be by my side, he is as close as he can get!"

His 17-year-old daughter Mackenna Newman shared a photo of his kind gesture on Twitter two weeks ago where it has since gone viral. It's been retweeted over 8,000 times and has over 11,000 likes. It also recently made its way to the Love What Matters Facebook page where it's been shared over 5,000 times and has over 54,000 likes.

Many people were incredibly moved by the Newmans' story and sent the family positive wishes online. Some have also shared their own experiences with loved ones and cancer and hope to provide the Newmans with hope during this difficult time.

The outpour of kind messages aren't going to change Marci's diagnosis, but they can help to keep the family's spirits high and remind them how much people care.
