Houston Astros Player Proposes To His Girlfriend Mid-Interview After Winning The World Series

"And right now, I'm about to take another big step in my life."

Last night, the Houston Astros won the 2017 World Series after defeating the LA Dodgers 5-1 in Game 7 of the series. It's not often that you win big twice in one night, but Astros shortstop Carlos Correa decided to give it a shot.

"You've dreamed of this your whole life. This feeling. Is it everything you thought it would be?" reporter Ken Rosenthal from FOX Sports asked Correa after the game.

"It's everything and more, man. Everything and more. It's one of the biggest steps of my life, one of the biggest accomplishments of my life," Correa replied. "And right now, I'm about to take another big step in my life."

Then, mid-interview, he turned to his girlfriend Daniella Rodriguez, pulled out a ring, and popped the question. Rodriguez, who was Miss Texas USA in 2016, was completely shocked.

She said yes.

"He kept calling me to be next to him during an interview, which I really didn't understand why cause it's just a regular interview, so he's like, 'Just don't leave, just don't leave. Stay right there.' So I was like, 'OK,'" she told the Associated Press after the proposal. "He had been so focused on the game. All he ever talked about was winning the World Series, so I never really thought something like this would be on his mind, so when it all went down, I was just shocked."

While he kept Rodriguez in the dark, Correa's proposal certainly wasn't impulsive.

"I was planning this for months," he said on Fox's postgame show later. "I knew we had a championship caliber team and I was just waiting it out. That was Plan A; I didn't have a Plan B, so I'm glad we won."
