Eyebrows Throughout History, From The 1800s To Today

Remember: rock whatever brow suits you best.

Eyebrow trends — from thin to thick, arched to straight — have changed over and over again throughout the years.

But beyond a fashion statement, did you know that are historical motivations and inspirations behind each era's brows?

In a recent video for BuzzFeed, one woman models various brow styles from the 1890s to today, highlighting how women created their looks and the reasons why they did so.

For example, in the 1920s, brows were drawn very thinly so that they would have "more visible expression in silent movies." And in the 1940s, "as the war continued, women chose to style a low-maintenance brow" by letting their natural hair fill in.

For today's look, BuzzFeed created a brow inspired by model Cara Delevingne, who is known for her fully grown-out brows.

The video is an excellent way to learn about changing beauty trends, but it's also important to note that regardless of the trend, you should rock your brows in whatever way makes you feel the most confident.
