One Day After Giving Birth, Hilaria Baldwin Took This Underwear Selfie To Help Normalize Postpartum Bodies

"In the age of such strong body shaming, I want to do all that I can to normalize a real body."

Hilaria Baldwin is keeping it real about what really happens to your body post-pregnancy. The yoga teacher recently gave birth to her third child with husband Alec Baldwin.

One day after her son Leonardo was born, the new mama uploaded a photo to Instagram to spread a body positive message.

I took this yesterday when Leonardo was about 24 hours old. I did the same thing right after Rafael was born. It always makes me a bit nervous to do something like this, but I feel that in the age of such strong body shaming, I want to do all that I can to normalize a real body and promote healthy self esteem. Many of you know that I love to show the process of life's experiences on the body and I am a firm believer in how a good diet and the right balance of exercise make us happy, healthy, and strong. So from here on, I want to dedicate the majority of my#366daysoflivingclearly #hilarialcm daily posts to getting back in shape and I invite you to do it with me ❤️🙏🏼. Common questions last time were: Did I have a c section?: No, I pushed him out Where are all the pads for bleeding?: I took them out briefly to snap this pic as there is a limit to how much you need to see 😂. Where am I?: in the hospital room bathroom #glamour  Oh, and no filter. Just brightened it up a bit.

Baldwin's Instagram selfie in her underwear and the accompanying message has been praised by many who respect her honesty, and can relate to the experience. Since being posted September 14, it has already received 11,300 likes and many supportive comments.

One woman wrote, "Thank you so much for doing this. So the average woman doesn't feel less than and so that husbands out there know this is normal."

This isn't the first time that Baldwin has shared a post-birth photo to help spread a positive message. As she points out in her post, she did the same thing after her elder son, Rafael, was born. Furthermore, she posted a photo after revealing she was pregnant with Leonardo to empower other parents.

Baldwin's post comes after a number of moms have made headlines for helping to show what real bodies look like before and after pregnancy. One new mom opened up about her stretch marks, while another posted a candid selfie of her wearing the hospital's mesh underwear.

The message from Baldwin and these women is that pregnancy and birth are beautiful things. They change your body and it is something that should not just be openly discussed, it should also be celebrated.
