Grandpa Accidentally Reverse Films Proposal, Captures His Own Reaction Instead

Everyone was laughing at the understandable mistake.

John Hart was on an outing to Sandia Peak Tramway in Albuquerque, N.M. with his grandson, Jayce, and his girlfriend, when they met a couple on the tram ride up. Hart was quick to point out that the picturesque location was an ideal spot for a marriage proposal and joked with his new friends, "This would be a great chance for you to propose to your girlfriend."

Little did he know, that was the plan.

On YouTube, Jayce explains that the man, named Christopher, was planning to propose to his girlfriend of eight years. Christopher asked Jayce to record the moment with his iPhone, but when the time came, Jayce's hands were full so he passed the phone to his grandpa. Hart — a former Navy photographer — who was confident he could do it.

Hart did, in fact, capture the moment ... just not in the way the couple was hoping.

"He thought he was filming the proposal the whole time but all we saw on playback was a genuine, heartfelt reaction to the proposal itself — he had the phone backwards!" Jayce explained.

In the video, we see the grandpa grinning ear-to-ear as he watches the loving moment unfold. "Oh, that's so cool," he says after the proposal. "Christopher, I didn't know it was going to happen, but I sure said something."

At the end of the video, everyone realizes Hart's mistake and laughs.

Thankfully, there were no hard feelings about the mishap. In fact, Hart is going viral for his sweet reaction in the video the proposal.
