These NSFW Photos Of Women Covered In Glitter Are A Sparkling Example Of Self-Love

"Getting glittered has been the most liberating and empowering experience of my life."

Glitter normally adds a touch of sparkle to crafts or decorations, but a group of lingerie-lovers from Australia used glitter to spread an empowering message about loving your body, just as it is.

The women, who range in age from 19 to 36, met on Instagram through a common interest in lingerie, and gathered in a field in Queensland to strip down, and cover their bodies in glitter, and celebrate the third annual Glitter Extravaganza.

And the #PositivelyGlittered event was captured by photographers Jill Kerswill and Jayde Harrison.

The photo shoot wasn't simply about creating compelling images. It was about spreading a message about body positivity.

Participant and lingerie review writer Bonnie V. told The Huffington Post about how their goal is to promote self-love. "Our focus is encouraging women everywhere to embrace the bodies they have, regardless of what they have been told is acceptable by mass media."

She elaborated on Instagram about how stripping down and applying the glitter had an impact on her, "Positively Glittered: What makes you genuinely happy? Happy to the point where all of your worries disappear and you completely live in the moment? Where you can solely focus on how positively you view yourself, your body, and the friends around you? This was the moment for me," she stated. "Getting glittered has been the most liberating and empowering experience of my life. The joy of being in nature, surrounded by amazing women and covered in glitter is indescribable. I highly recommend it."

Another participant, Misss Bunnypenny, a burlesque performer and art nude model, discussed her transformative experience during the event on Instagram.

"It was so amazing to be able to join this group of incredible and unique women to glitter up and strip down and appreciate the beauty in every different body. #positivelyglittered"

Even those who didn't "get glittered" in the Glitter Extravaganza are impacted by its positive message. Photographer Jill Kerswill wrote on Instagram,

"Nothing makes me love what I do more than watching strong confident women celebrate everything they are!"

She added, "And what better way to do that than to prance around the bush completely naked except for a coat of glitter!? Today was ridiculous and inspirational and hilarious all at the same time. Thank you for letting me be part of the magic."

Even those who weren't involved in the photo shoot are being inspired by its body positive, "love what you've got" message. People from around the world are sharing the photos and making them go viral.
