The 'Game Of Thrones' Cast Bands Together For Its #RealmToTheRescue Campaign To Aid Syrian Refugees

"Rescue has no boundaries."

As is customary, the months leading up to a new season of Game of Thrones have been full of speculation over what will happen, even more so this year because the show has finally caught up to the published books. It stands to reason, then, that a series with a cultural footprint as large as this one would leverage its huge cast and notable brand for a worthy cause. Now with #RealmToTheRescue, that exact scenario is playing out to bring aid to Syrian refugees.

As Samantha Bee and a slew of late-night talk show hosts, reporters, and other media personalities have pointed out, more than 4 million Syrians have fled their home country in the last five years of war, but a shockingly small number have found permanent homes elsewhere. The U.S. itself has pledged to take in just 10,000 of them, and only a quarter of that number have actually settled here. It's a severe crisis that needs immediate action, and the Game of Thrones cast and HBO are encouraging fans to donate to the International Rescue Committee, and use the #RealmToTheRescue hashtag to spread the word.

As Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (who plays Jaime Lannister) pleads in the promotional video, "rise up and stand with us."
