The Story Behind This Viral Photo Of A Baby Girl Wearing Her Mom's Hat Will Break You

"For anyone who is planning on just having a 'few beers ...' "

Sunday, November 15, started out as a regular day for Colorado State Trooper Jaimie Jursevics and her family life.

The plan was probably little to no different from any other day that week — wake up, go to work, serve and protect, return home safe. However, that Sunday, things didn't go as planned.

Jursevics, 33, was killed by an alleged drunk driver while she was investigating another car accident near Denver.

Jursevics was outside her patrol car when the drunk driver struck her. According to the Fremont County Sheriff's Office (FCSO), "she was taken to a hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries."

On the evening of Jursevics' memorial service, the FCSO posted a picture of the fallen state trooper's daughter wearing bits of her uniform along with a hard-hitting message.

The message reads:

"For anyone who is planning on just having a 'few beers' and driving home after, look at this little girl. She will grow up without her Mother, Colorado State Patrol Trooper Jaimie Jursevics, who was hit by a drunk driver and killed last week. Is it worth it?"

The post has been already shared by more than 10,000 people and continues to garner attention not only from people directly touched by the tragedy, but other families whose lives have been negatively affected by drunk drivers:

"My Granddaughters car was rear-ended by a drunk driver just last week. Don't drink and drive," writes one commenter.

"My father-in-law was hit by a drunk driver and he has never been able to walk without some device again," shares another.

Remember — intoxicated drivers put not only their lives at risk, but jeopardize everyone's safety. Safety of innocent people, who didn't deserve such a fate.

Next time you, your friend or even a total stranger want to grab a wheel after a few drinks, stop and think: Is it really worth taking the risk? Hopefully, the answer will always be the same.

Call a cab.

Get home safe.
