Ellen Sent This Kindergarten Teacher To The Grammys To Play Games With The Stars

The experience brought her to tears.

Ellen DeGeneres has a history of doing nice things for teachers. Just last month, she surprised a very special elementary school teacher with a $25,000 donation to his school. Then, over the weekend, Ellen sent Kathy — a kindergarten teacher she met earlier this year during a game with audience members — to the Grammys red carpet with her correspondent Andy.

When Kathy revealed her job title to Katy Perry, the singer responded with admiration. "You are a hero," she said. "We need you so much. Thank you for your time."

One of Ellen's favorite things about Kathy is her inability to name song lyrics, no matter how popular. As it turns out, even music's biggest stars weren't much help to her. Carrie Underwood couldn't finish the opening line to Lukas Graham's "7 Years," although she did impress Kathy with her voice. And imagine Thomas Rhett's embarrassment when Adele herself walked by just as he struggled with the lyrics to "Hello."

A game of "Never Have I Ever" led to a few tequila shots, and things ended on a high note when Keith Urban showed up to share a box of raisins. The entire experience brought Kathy to "happy tears" as she thanked Ellen for sending her.
