How Ellen Chose To Help This Inspiring Young Superfan Follow Her Dreams

Z'Niyah is going places.

Ellen DeGeneres always has a surprise up her sleeve for her guests, and this week she revealed an especially generous gift for one of her biggest fans — 9-year-old Z'Niyah.

DeGeneres shared a letter she received from Z'Niyah's mother Joy, explaining how much the young fan would love to see The Ellen DeGeneres Show in person. The host invited them to the show and interviewed them on the couch, where Z'Niyah revealed how DeGeneres inspired her to be kind in her own life.

She spoke of a girl in her class who had moved from another country and didn't know how to read. Z'Niyah volunteered to help her, explaining, "I just wanted to make her feel like she could do anything that she puts her mind to, and that she can accomplish anything."

Z'Niyah has some big dreams of her own. She shared her love of photography and her ambition to attend Harvard University. "I want them to challenge me to be the best," she said of the school, adding that Michelle Obama attended

DeGeneres gifted Z'Niyah with a new camera and a personalized carrying case, but her generosity didn't stop there. With the help of Walmart, the host then surprised Z'Niyah and her mom — who was recently sick in the hospital and lost her job — with $25,000 to put toward her education.
