Earth Day Is Serious, But Ellen Has A Few Funny Tips For How You Can Help Save The Planet

"I'll tell you what's stressful: not having a planet."

On April 22, we'll celebrate Earth Day, "dedicated to providing the information and inspiration needed to fundamentally change human attitude and behavior about plastics," Earth Day Network explains.

And while there are a ton of ways to get involved (e.g., taking responsibility for your use of plastic, planting trees, limiting your meat consumption, giving to the cause, etc.), Ellen DeGeneres has a few simple ideas, too.

"I don't know why, but for some reason, we only get one day to celebrate Earth. Did you know that April is Stress Awareness Month?" DeGeneres says. "I'll tell you what's stressful: not having a planet. That's stressful."

With that, she presents "Ellen's Simple Tips for Saving Our Planet That We Can All Do." They are as follows: unplug electronics to help save electricity; recycle to fight climate change; ride-share to cut down on emissions, among others.

"I prefer hitchhiking," DeGeneres says of the latter. "Not only is it great for Mother Earth, it's a great way to meet truckers."

Of course, DeGeneres presents her tips while cracking a few jokes, but her message is one to be taken seriously. Find out more about how you can help protect the Earth by clicking here
