Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson Feeds Partner As She Breastfeeds, Showing One Great Way Dads Can Be Involved

Dads can be a part of the breastfeeding process too.

Many of today's parents are no longer adhering to strict "mom" and "dad" jobs, and instead are opting to collaboratively share most duties โ€”even such duties as breastfeeding

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson is one modern dad who shows that fathers can โ€” and should โ€” get involved in all aspects of parenting with his Instagram filled with various examples. Some highlights include he and his 2-year-old daughter Jasmine Lia celebrating International Women's Day and him paying tribute to his partner, Lauren Hashian, and his newborn daughter, Tiana Gia, in April 2018.

One of his most recent posts shows how he is able to involve himself in the breastfeeding process.

Johnson shared a photo of himself feeding Hashian as she breastfeeds little Tiana Gia. In the post, he also shows his admiration for all of the other moms out there.

"I'll handle this business ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ’ช๐Ÿพ Mama @laurenhashianofficial has her hands full nursing/feeding Baby Tia, so I'm feedin' mama her dinner.  My pleasure.  So much respect to her and all mamas out there holding it down and running things.  Just landed and good to get all my girl's settled in.  Now, I gotta go satisfy my own appetite.. Iron Paradise, here I come. #EveryoneGetsFed  #DaddysGottaGoToWork #ChivalryIsToughOnTheKnees"

In 24 hours, the Instagram post racked up over 5.3 million likes. Commenters praised The Rock for his involvement. One said, "I love your daddy post!!!!!!! [It's] so amazing seeing a man post about his family in such a way!"

Another said, "That is [what] love looks like!"

Of course, what Johnson is doing is far from extraordinary, and we should come to expect all dads to perform such seemingly fundamental duties without praise when moms do these things daily. That said, it was not too long ago when traditional gender and parental roles reigned, so we are all doing our best to move past those constraints, and highlight the small victories where we can. For that reason, men are also responding, saying they would be doing the same thing or emphasizing there's a dad's role to breastfeeding.

Feeding your partner is one way dads can become more involved with breastfeeding, but it's not the only way.  There are many examples of other dads who have gotten involved doing everything from carrying breast pumps around with them, to blow drying their partner's hair as they breastfeed, to pushing around their nursing baby and wife in a cart at Target.

There are many challenging moments in parenting. Breastfeeding in particular can be emotionally, physically, and mentally draining. When a mom has a partner who offers support in any kind, it's a welcome. What's more, it gives families more bonding time together.
