High School Senior Pulls Off A Doritos-Themed Promposal For A Girl Who 'Deserves It So Much'

It was all that — and a bag of chips.

To make his senior prom unforgettable, 18-year-old Shaedon Wedel didn't just want to invite a special someone, he also wanted to do it in an extra special spicy way.

At the beginning of the school year, he and his best friend, Carson Wittman, had planned to take Wittman's 15-year-old sister, Carlie, to prom. But things changed once Wittman started dating his girlfriend.

"We decided that I would take Carlie myself," Wedel told A Plus. He "decided to go all out" in his prom-posal to make it "as special as possible" for Carlie, who has Down syndrome.

"I have known her and her older brother Carson for seven years," Wedel explained. "They are basically my second family." In that time, he added, "[T]here has not been a day that I have not seen her eat Doritos. She absolutely loves them!"

Inspired by Wittman's devotion to Doritos, Wedel made sure she received nacho average prom-posal.

He showed up to her door with flowers, a big bag of nacho cheese flavored Doritos, and a custom-made T-shirt that said, "I know I'm NACHO typical Dorito, but I'm going to be CHEESY and ask: WILL YOU GO TO PROM WITH ME?"

Who could say "no" to a gentleman caller bearing a full bag of Doritos? Well, certainly not Carlie.

She immediately accepted with a wide smile and hug. With the help of the Wittman family, Wedel not only pulled off the surprise prom-posal, but caught it all on video. "[Carlie] loves to be on the camera," Wedel explained. Though he and the Wittmans never expected the video to go viral (garnering more than 200,000 Facebook views), the experience has been "very neat and exciting."

More than anything, however, Wedel is most excited to attend prom with Carlie in April. "She says she wants to be a princess like Cinderella, and it would mean everything to make her feel that way," he said. "My main goal is to really give her everything she deserves. I want her to get that Cinderella prom dress and prom that she wants. She honestly deserves it so much."

If this creative prom-posal was any indication, Newton High School's actual prom should be all that — and a bag of chips.
