This Dad Drew On Over 550 Of His Son's Lunch Bags To Help Him Meet New Friends

"Some people say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, [but] we like to think lunch is the most creative."

"Some people say breakfast is the most important meal of the day, [but] we like to think lunch is the most creative," one dad named Dominick Cabalo wrote in a post on Bored Panda. For the last four years, Cabalo's decorated his son's brown paper lunch bags with the hopes that it will help his son "break the ice at school."

Since starting the project, Cabalo added that he's decorated over 550 bags. His son is now in middle school, and continues bringing his dad's works of art to lunch.

"I've even had to do lunch bags for his soccer games when it's our turn to bring snacks," Cabalo explains.

"Even though [my son] has friends, he's pretty shy, so I started doing these to help break the ice and get conversations going," he added in a 2017 post on Imgur. "He took some summer school courses out-of-state, and these helped a lot when he didn't know anyone."

Cabalo's paper bag art includes everything from movie characters, superheroes, to dinosaurs and other animals, and beyond. We covered his work last year, but since then, he's drawn Buddy from the movie Elf, Cate Blanchett as the Goddess of Death, and Star Wars characters such as Luke Skywalker and Chewbacca.

We love that Cabalo's art both allows him to utilize his more creative side and help his son — and potentially other students — feel more confident at school.
