Rise And Make Your Skin Shine With This All-Natural, DIY Oat & Orange Face Mask

Banish breakouts without breaking the bank.

Many people suffer from dry, flaky skin in the winter, resulting from exposure to the harsh, cold air. This is especially true first thing in the morning when your body wakes up already dehydrated.

While you may think you need to sprint to the nearest Sephora, you can actually solve all your skin problems with just a few natural — and yes, cost-effective —  ingredients you probably already have at home. Made of oats, Greek yogurt, honey, and orange juice, this DIY face mask is easy to make and easy on the skin. Because every ingredient has anti-inflammatory properties, it's particularly good for those who have sensitive or acne-prone skin.

Let's break it down before you break out:

With their gritty texture, oats are an excellent exfoliator for sensitive skin that cannot tolerate other, harsher ones.  While buffing away all the bad stuff, oats also moisturize, restore the skin barrier, reduce itching, and regulate inflammation. They're especially useful when up against allergy- or eczema-prone skin.

Honey is a breakout buster, thanks to its anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties. Like the oats, its additional anti-inflammatory properties reduce redness and irritation, as well as decrease the appearance of scars and acne marks.

While it's important to rid your face of the bad bacteria that can lead to breakouts, it's just as important to promote the good bacteria found in the probiotics of unsweetened plain Greek yogurt. This bacteria has an anti-inflammatory impact on the skin, especially if it's prone to acne, as well as in the digestive track.

Finally, both the juice and peel of an orange contain citric acid and calcium that work wonders on skin. Both nutrients are excellent not only at getting rid of dead skin cells, but also at promoting new skin cell growth. They can also alleviate past skin damage by reducing the look of age spots, acne scars, and small wrinkles and evening out tone and texture. And of course, oranges are chock full of Vitamin C, which combats free radicals and brightens all over.

So the next time you wake up to find your skin needs a little morning TLC, whip up this DIY solution, and put your freshest face forward.
