4 Crafts Ideas For Boyfriends: DIY Ideas For Birthday Or Anniversary

Surprise him with something special.

Whether it's your boyfriend's birthday, graduation or anniversary, there's never a bad time to display an act of kindness and love through a handmade gift. Buying a Jambox or a concert tickets is nice, but those birthday or anniversary gifts can be so cliché. Express your love for him with a DIY gift idea that he can truly appreciate.

What kind of gifts can you make that he will truly enjoy? Maybe not a glassblown horse sculpture, but there are many great options to choose from for a special occasion.

DIY Beer Case Coasters

He's got tons of beer cases stashed in his kitchen anyway. Why not put them to good use?

To make these beer coasters with household items, have your scissors and Krazy Glue handy. You'll have to visit a craft store or supermarket for some items (i.e., ceramic tiles and felt for coaster's bottom layer). All in all, the supplies should cost you no more than $15 dollars (assuming you have beer boxes handy).

Even if you need boxes, places that sell alcohol should have some used cases lying around. One girl's trash is another girl's treasure.

Mustache Mugs

These mugs will make him wake up Monday morning with a laugh.

In terms of supplies and assembly, the mustache mugs may be the simplest of the list. The key ingredient is the oil-based Sharpie pen — without it, the mustache will fade and lose its lasting power. The mugs can be found at your nearby dollar store or discount supermarket.

Once you draw the mustache, all that left is to place it in a 350-degree oven for 30 minutes, allowing the marker to heat up enough to forge onto the mug.

Make sure to take a picture of him sipping the mug with his new mustache. Looks good, doesn't it?

Color-Block Tie

For those with suave, James Bond-looking boyfriends, or seemingly want to envision him as that type of guy, customize a tie for him.

To put together the color-block tie, you'll need both strong painters tape, acrylic white paint and fabric paint (choose your colors wisely).

Start with the painters tape by placing it on the tip of the tie. Then paint the area underneath, first with the white paint. After that has dried, then paint with the fabric color, whichever you choose, and then remove the tape.

Remote Sofa Caddy

When he hits the couch, he doesn't like to get up for a while. Who doesn't want to have the remote, cellphone and video controller all within arm's reach anyway? Let's make convenience even better with this DIY sofa caddy.

You'll need a sewing machine and a few DIY sewing experiences under your belt to put the caddy together, but have no fear, Sew4Home has a step-by-step guide to walk you through the process.

Happy crafting!
