Dierks Bentley Got Upstaged At A Concert By His Special Guests And Their Touching Moment

He's totally OK with it, by the way.

Dierks Bentley turned what could have been a normal meet-and-greet into a moment these fans will never forget. The country music star staged a reunion for the Mendez family at a recent concert, and surprised them in a big way: with their military dad returning home.

The moment happened April 29 show at the Save Mart Center in Fresno, California. Staff Sgt. Steve Mendez's two sons were invited backstage before Bentley performed and, while they were making small talk with the singer, their dad walked out and a tearful reunion started.

For his part, Bentley remained quite stoic while the Mendez family had their moment — filled with many hugs, of course — and soaked it all in. Mendez had been overseas for the last 10 months, so it was a long time coming for him and his family.

Bentley also invited the Mendez family on stage during the concert and told the audience he was "profoundly changed" by what had happened backstage and thanked Mendez for his service. The crowd began chanting "U-S-A" while the family joined Bentley.

Clearly the 41-year-old was moved by the whole experience as he took to social media after was all said and done to express how impactful this moment was for him.

"Seen many military family reunions on tv ... first time to get to participate in one," the Grammy-nominated musician wrote on Instagram with a photo of him and the Mendez family in the spotlight. "Life changing. Thanks Staff Srg Steven Mendez and your family."
