How One Deployed Dad Participated In His Wife's Pregnancy Shoot From 7,000 Miles Away

" ... connected by love."

Dad-to-be and navy corpsman Wesley has been deployed overseas since November, but he still found a way to participate in his wife Nicole Bedwell's pregnancy photo shoot.

He had his photo taken in such a way that it could be joined with his wife's maternity photo.

The two images were pieced together and Photoshopped by Traci Fugitt of Traci Lynn Photography. On the left, Wesley is in his military uniform, kneeling on the ground with his hand reaching out toward his wife's belly. On the right, his wife stands cradling her bump in a field of blooming flowers.

The image was posted on the Love What Matters Instagram account and it shows that distance doesn't have to come between love and family.

"Separated by 7,000 miles but connected by love."

In some of Nicole's maternity photos, she holds her husband's photo and dog tags, but this Photoshopped image is especially moving and powerful.

"It was just something we talked about," Bedwell told Inside Edition. "I just wanted him in the picture because he wasn't able to be here during the whole pregnancy so she cropped him in."

Redbook reported that the mom-to-be and Wesley's families were especially moved when they saw the final image.

"[When we saw the image] I cried, both of our families cried," she added, "It's been really emotional for me to have my husband gone my whole pregnancy, so the fact that Traci was able to include him in my maternity session was very emotional. We will never be having our first child again. He's my family, so having him included touched my heart. It made me happy."

Wesley may not have been there for the photo shoot, but he will hopefully be there for the birth. Bedwell is scheduled to be induced April 12 due to hypertension and Wesley has been given permission to leave his post so he can see the birth of the couple's first child, a baby girl they plan on calling Pyper.
