Demi Lovato Shared A Pic And A New Year’s Resolution We Should All Follow

"Today I’m feeling strong."

New Year's resolutions are often about changing oneself, but the best are when you come to embrace yourself. Demi Lovato is proving just that by promising to continue "learning to love my body" and using the platform she has been given to spread the message of self-love.

"So, I'm insecure about my legs in this picture but I'm posting it because I look so happy and this year I've decided I'm letting go of my perfectionism and embracing freedom from self-criticism," Lovato wrote on Instagram alongside an oh-so-cute beach pic.

The 25-year-old "Sorry Not Sorry" singer has been open about struggles in the past — most recently in the YouTube doc Simply Complicated — and she continues to be inspiring by standing up for causes that are close to her heart. When it comes to eating disorders and those affected by them, Lovato wants people to know that you can live your life while dealing with them.

"Learning to love my body the way it is is challenging but life-changing," Lovato added. "Giving up my eating disorder has been the most challenging journey of my life but I work every day towards solid recovery even if I mess up sometimes."

While folks can overcome hurdles in their life, Lovato is honest to admit that it's always a work in process. Changes are being made in industries with problematic relationships to eating disorders, such as it is in the fashion world, and in technology such as social media like Instagram, even proving the latter can be a place where people can find self-acceptance.

"Today I'm feeling strong. You can do it too. It IS possible," Lovato concluded. "Thank you God for this new chapter in my life. #EDrecovery #happyAF."
