This Awesome Daddy-Daughter Rap Will Inspire All Students To Feel Excited To Learn

They remixed a Yo Gotti and Nicki Minaj song.

It's officially September and, for many, that means it's time to head back to school. But as we look back on summers filled with beach days and barbecues, it's not always easy to be excited about hitting the books.

But recently, one daddy-daughter duo remixed "Rake It Up" by Yo Gotti featuring Nicki Minaj to create a back-to-school anthem that would get students pumped for class.

In the song, Joel Carter and his 8-year-old daughter, Dream Carter, rap and sing about receiving positive reinforcements for being a strong student. The lyrics also encourage students to rake in those good grades so that they can head off to college one day.

"Back on my grind, the summer's over / I gotta get my head back straight like a soldier," Dream raps while wearing a "Class of 2027" sweatshirt.

"We gotta teach these lessons, we gotta hold firm / We gotta know that even if he wrong, he can learn," Joel adds later.

Joel, who also works in the education system, tells HuffPost that he hopes the song encourages teachers, too.

"For teachers, I hope it inspires them to understand the importance of their job and how they can change the world through their work of inspiring and educating our youth."

Since sharing their rap on Facebook three weeks ago, the Carter family's video has been viewed more than 4 million times, with nearly 200,000 shares.

"What a cool way to encourage our youth," one person comments.

"Wonderful I'm sending to my grandsons ASAP," another adds.

This isn't the first time we've seen people find creative ways to get students excited to head to school. We've seen bus drivers lend a helping hand, teachers deck out their classrooms like something out of Harry Potter, and beyond, and hopefully, more young people will see the Carter family's video and feel inspired now, too.
