Three Other Female Roles Chris Hemsworth Could Rock After Playing The 'Ghostbusters' Receptionist

When you figure out 'who you gonna call,' Thor will be answering the phone.

Hollywood is currently in the midst of a sea change. Female-fronted movies like The Hunger Games and Pitch Perfect 2 are getting major play at the box office, and all that extra cash has made studios finally realize what film fans have known all along: if you make good movies featuring talented ladies, people will pay to watch them. And thus, Paul Feig's all-female Ghostbusters reboot was conceived. Most of the film's supporting cast has thus far remained shrouded in mystery. But on June 11, we got some exciting news: You can see Chris Hemsworth play Ghostbusters' receptionist when the movie is released next summer. That's right, Thor's latest role is as a snarky, underpaid and overworked secretary, originally played by Annie Potts.

We already know that Melissa McCarthy, Leslie Jones, Kate McKinnon and Kristen Wiig will be reinterpreting the four lead roles, and Cecily Strong is also attached to the project. But the news of Hemsworth's casting got us thinking: what other traditionally female characters could the Aussie actor pull off? After all, if the new Thor is a woman in the comics, why should gender ever bar an actor from getting a part? Let the fantasy casting begin!

'Wonder Man

Obviously, Hemsworth already has the whole superhero thing down. If DC Comics were ever to do a gender-swapped Justice League movie (which we would totally be down for), we bet he'd nail this role.

'Pretty in Blue'

Annie Potts, who played the original receptionist, Janine, had a role in another iconic '80s film a few years before Ghostbusters: she played Andie's older friend Iona in Pretty in Pink. Hemsworth should pay homage to Potts and punk out in a gender-swapped version of the classic.

Why stop at just one receptionist role? Hemsworth could take on a remake of this steamy 2002 film. After all, as Magic Mike and Fifty Shades of Grey have both proven, there is definitely a market for it.
