Charli XCX And Rita Ora Channeled Two Other Iconic Brits On 'Lip Sync Battle'

It's "Shape of You" vs. "Wannabe."

Charli XCX and Rita Ora went all out on the latest episode of Lip Sync Battle. The British pop stars chose to channel their fellow countrymen — and in Charli XCX's case, we really do mean countryman

The singer was almost unrecognizable as she donned a ginger wig and beard to recreate Ed Sheeran's "Shape of You" music video. That included backup dancers dressed as boxers, and even a few sumo wrestlers — one a little more authentic than the others.

It's fitting that Charli would choose to dress as a male singer, considering her recent song "Boys," and the music video's clever take on the male gaze. As she wrote on Instagram, "ok so I dressed up as Ed Sheeran for 24 hours whilst me and @ritaora were filming @lipsyncbattle and it was honestly the most amazing lolsss 24 hours ever!!!!"

Ora, meanwhile, played into our nostalgia for the '90s by performing "Wannabe" by the Spice Girls while dressed as Scary Spice, aka Mel B. She totally rocked the leopard-print catsuit and triple-bun hairstyle, and owned the stage to the girl group's iconic song.

Interestingly, both women have connections to their competitor's chosen artist. Ora and Sheeran have actually been friends since they were teenagers, and they recently co-wrote Ora's track "Your Song." Charli, meanwhile, performed "Wannabe" with tour partner Halsey at Lollapalooza last year.
