These Celebs Audition For The Role Of A Famous Harry Potter Wizard, And Honestly, We’re Pretty Convinced

Watch out, Jude Law.

Jude Law may be lined up to play the young version of Hogwarts headmaster Albus Dumbledore in the sequel to Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but that doesn't mean there aren't other talented folks who could have donned the wand in the Harry Potter-related tale. Conan O'Brien clearly knew this when he put a handful of totally random celebrities to the test to see how they would fare playing the famous wizard.

What better place to do this than this year's San Diego Comic-Con? The late-night host gathered Parks & Recreation alums Nick Offerman and Aubrey Plaza, comedian Patton Oswalt, Silicon Valley's Thomas Middleditch, Orphan Black's Tatiana Maslany, and Malcolm in the Middle's Frankie Muniz. Each one got their chance to work their magic and take a shot.

Some of the most hilarious moments were when Offerman claimed to be just 28, Plaza offered up Marcia Gay Harden's monologue from 2000's Pollock, Oswalt knew Dumbledore's entire name, Middleditch gave Dumbledore some bad boy vibes, Maslany played multiple roles, and Muniz gave us one of those trademark breaking-the-fourth-wall moments.

Each person really goes for it and delivers over-the-top performances, but they're not likely right for the job. Law is a lock for the Fantastic Beasts sequel, and will be joining Johnny Depp in the Eddie Redmayne-fronted flick follow-up to the 2016 blockbuster. These films, directed by David Yates and written by J.K. Rowling, serve as a prequel to the Harry Potter films.

It'll be interesting to see Law take on Dumbledore and shed some much-needed light on the beloved character's past — but we have to admit that these audition tapes are some true gems.
