Where Is The 'Buffy The Vampire Slayer' Cast Now?

Slay all day.

It's been more than 20 years since Buffy the Vampire Slayer first aired on TV and nearly 15 years since it ended — premiering in 1997 and wrapping up in 2003 — and yet the series continues to amass fans both young and old. But where is the cast of this iconic Joss Whedon-created brainchild at these days?

The show followed Buffy Summers, a teen who is the latest in a line of vampire slayers, who fights evil, be it vampires, demons, or other forces of darkness. Buffy faces many ups and downs while she tries to maintain a regular life as well as embracing what destiny has in store. The story still lives thanks to an entire franchise known as the "Buffyverse."

Let's check in and see what the entire cast did after Buffy, shall we?

Sarah Michelle Gellar

After playing the titular role of vampire slayer Buffy Summers, a role which earned her a Golden Globe nomination, Gellar had a solid career appearing in both Grudge films. She also had two TV series with Ringer and The Crazy Ones (opposite the late Robin Williams), as well as voice acting on Star Wars: Rebels and Robot Chicken. Gellar has been married to husband Freddie Prinze Jr. since 2002 and they share two children together.

Nicholas Brendon

Post-Buffy, Nicholas Brendon (who played Xander Harris) appeared in other TV shows such as Kitchen Confidential (opposite Bradley Cooper), Grey's Anatomy spin-off Private Practice, Criminal Minds, and Faking It. Though he has faced some criminal troubles related to a struggle with alcoholism and depression, he's using his past to create change. Now on the rebound, Brendon has a few projects underway in which fans can see him.

Since playing the witchy Willow Rosenberg on Buffy, Alyson Hannigan continued appearing in the American Pie movies, appeared on Veronica Mars, and — perhaps most importantly — starred on How I Met Your Mother for nearly a decade as Lily Aldrin (Jason Segel's romantic interest). Hannigan married Buffy co-star and Angel star Alexis Denisof (who played Wesley Wyndam-Pryce) in 2003. The couple have two children together.

Anthony Head

A legend of the small screen, Anthony Head (Rupert Giles) has appeared in a vast number of shows such as: Doctor Who, Little Britain, Merlin, Free Agents (both the U.K. and U.S. versions), Warehouse 13, Dominion, Guilt, Still Star-Crossed, and other British series. He currently lives with partner Sarah Fisher and has two daughters.

James Marsters

Post-Buffy, on which he played the vampire named Spike, he starred on Angel, Without a Trace, Torchwood, Caprica, Smallville, Warehouse 13, Witches of East End, Hawaii Five-O, Dragon Ball Super, and Runaways. He appeared in P.S. I Love You on the big screen, too. Marsters is married to wife Patricia Rahman and has a child with ex-wife Liane Davidson. He also is raising his niece and refers to her as his child.

Emma Caulfield

After playing Anya, a former demon who has to relearn what being human is about, on Buffy, Emma Caulfield appeared on shows such as Life Unexpected, Gigantic, Once Upon a Time, and Fantasy Hospital. Her big screed credits include TiMER. Caulfield is married to husband Mark Leslie Ford and has one child from that relationship.

Michelle Trachtenberg

Michelle Trachtenberg played Dawn Summers on Buffy and followed up that role with appearances in Six Feet Under, EuroTrip, Mercy, 17 Again, Weeds, Gossip Girl (as Georgina Sparks), Guidance, and Robot Chicken.

David Boreanaz

After winning our hearts as the vampire Angel on Buffy, David Boreanaz got a spin-off for the character titled Angel. Post-Angel, Boreanaz starred as Seeley Booth on Bones for more than a decade and followed that with SEAL Team. The actor has been married to wife Jaime Bergman since 2001 and they have two children together.

Kristine Sutherland

Kristine Sutherland, who played Joyce Summers on Buffy, has flown under the radar, appearing in few TV shows and films — with the longest stint being a few episodes of soap opera One Life to Live. Sutherland has been married to husband John Pankow sine 1986 — before even starring in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids — and they have one child together.

Charisma Carpenter

After playing Cordelia Chase on Buffy, Charisma Carpenter moved over to Angel before appearing in Charmed, Veronica Mars, The Expendables, Greek, The Expendables 2, The Lying Game, Scream Queens, and other small roles on both the big and small screen. Carpenter has one child with ex-husband Damian Hardy.
