Bride Surprises Everyone By Including Her Stepson And His Mom In Her Wedding Vows

"We are one family. Always."

Some people don't even write their own wedding vows for the person they're marrying, but this bride chose to also write them for her new stepson and his mom. On the Facebook page Love What Matters, Katie Musser 24, shared a video of her wedding to Jeremy Wade.

During the ceremony, she addressed Wade's ex-wife Casey and Casey's husband, Tyler. Katie read vows she had written to them about their future together as co-parents of Casey and Jeremy's 4-year-old son, Landon.

"First, I want to thank you for accepting me as your friend and allowing me to be a part of Landon's life," she said. "I promise to be an amazing mother to your son. I will guide, teach, and love him every single day. I will promise to respect, work, listen, and communicate together as co-parents. I will love you guys no matter what comes our way. We are one family. Always."

Then, 4-year-old Landon was asked to stand in front of the bride. Katie squatted down to his level so she could tell him how important he is to her — and how proud she is to be his new stepmom.

"Landon, I love you more than you will ever know," she said. "I love watching you grow and I will for the rest of my life. I'm so happy that I now officially get to be your bonus mommy. I promise to protect you, hold you when you need it, and clean all the booboos you ever get. I promise to stand by you, listen to you and love you every day. I promise to love daddy with all my heart. I promise to be a best friend to mommy and your daddy Tyler. We will be one big family that I promise you will have for the rest of your life."

The sweet video has been viewed more than 620,000 times and has over 1,500 shares. In the post, Katie revealed that reading those vows to her fellow co-parents and to Landon was a surprise she kept from everyone.

"I wasn't just going into a marriage with Jeremy and needed his trust and respect, but I needed Casey's and Tyler's, too," she wrote to Love What Matters. "I know I can speak for us all, parenting is hard yet amazing; but co-parenting? It's a blessing. It was the hardest and best four years of my life. It takes true understanding and support from the ones who love you. Everyone facing custody problems, acceptance, understanding, relationship problems, etc; we get it. Not everyone gets the luxury of having a relationship like we formed; but it's possible to get along, communicate, and give the same rules/love/respect on both sides for your child/children. Go against the norm. BE that CHANGE."

If the idea of co-parenting with love and respect for one another sounds like a future you can't imagine in your own situation, take comfort in knowing that things weren't so easy for Katie and Casey in the beginning either. In a post on her Facebook page, Katie revealed that she and Landon's mom hated each other at first. But, one day, Katie realized she didn't want to continue to perpetuate a toxic relationship and, instead, decided to reach out to Casey.

"I spoke nothing, but truth to her. It was not easy. You can't trust someone in a second," Katie wrote on Facebook. "Eventually we started having "mommy dates" and talked about everything from ourselves, Landon, and even old relationships. The one thing we had in common though was Landon. Landon was, and is, the beat to our heart. The little guy who not only changed our routines and norms, but he changed us. Giving us patience, understanding, and love. I may not have been there for his first step, potty training, or his first dentist appt., but Casey respected me like I was. She still treated me like his mom."

Their relationship continued to blossom from there and, as is apparent from the vows, Katie plans to continue to work to make their relationship grow. Thanks to their dedication to improving their relationship with one another, Landon will grow up with a blended family that cares for both him and each other.
