13 Fun Animated Shorts To Help Get You Through The Week

You're gonna wanna binge these.

Few things can put a smile on your face like a cute animated short can. Sure, there are a lot of awesome full-length films out there, but some of of life's best things come in smaller packages. You don't need to sit in front of a screen for two hours to get into a really sweet and heartwarming story. It's for that reason animated short films are one of the most innovative forms of storytelling. Despite the limited time length, artists still manage to create stories that make us laugh, smile, and even shed some happy tears. Below, we've rounded up some of the best animated short films that are so good, you'll wish they made them into full features.

1. "In A Heartbeat” by by Beth David and Esteban Bravo

In this cute animated short film, one boy desperately (and literally) tries to hide his beating, lovesick heart from his crush. It's an adorable young love story for sure, but mostly it's a relatable tale for anyone who has ever struggled coming to terms with same-sex attraction. Watch and and feel all the feels!

2. “Ménage à Tetris” by Emile Rademeyer

Contrary to popular belief, not all animated films are for kids. If you couldn't tell by its title, Ménage à Tetris is definitely for the adult crowd. The film — which premiered at TEDxSYDNEY 2017's film festival under the "Unconventional" theme — reveals the secret lives of Tetris shapes, as one seemingly "unfit" couple finds a third member who completes them.

3. "Alike" by Daniel Martínez Lara and Rafa Cano Méndez

If there's one thing animated shorts can remind us of is to never lose our childlike spirit. This message is the main theme in Alike. 4. “Print Your Guy" by Team PYG

Finding love isn't easy, but with the help of the internet, it can be — at least in this funny animated short. The film follows a girl who tries to create the "perfect" boyfriend using a "Print Your Boyfriend" app. Spoiler: Turns out there is no such thing as the perfect anything.

5. "Animation Infestation” by Marty Cooper

The 2016 film received critical acclaim for its stunning animation and its emotional storytelling.

12. "Flying While Fat" by Stacy Bias
