You Can Now Stand With Planned Parenthood In Shoes Designed By A Beastie Boy

Ad-Rock supports a woman's right to choose.

Adam "Ad-Rock" Horovitz of the Beastie Boys has a new project that will put a spring in your step. He's collaborated with vegan shoe brand Keep to design a new sneaker, the net proceeds from which will benefit Planned Parenthood.

The shoe, which is a new take on the brand's classic Ramos mid-top style, comes with both black and magenta laces, and features the musician's name embroidered on the sides. It's also water-resistant and lined with synthetic shearling. You can pre-order a pair now for $97, to be shipped in February 2017.

Ad-Rock released a statement about the shoe, saying he wanted a warm sneaker for winter. "Given the outcome of our current election, it's gonna get a lot colder before we can feel that summer sun again," he said, according to Pitchfork. He added that he wanted to work with Keep's founder Una Kim because "I support small business. I support women run business. I support Asian-American run business."

He also supports a woman's right to choose and believes that "women should not be punished for making decisions about their own lives and bodies." Ad-Rock's support comes at a crucial time for women in the United States, as states continue to push legislation that could limit women's access to safe, legal abortions. Additionally, Vice President-elect Mike Pence is prominently anti-abortion, calling for the defunding of Planned Parenthood and the overturn of Roe v. Wade.

Ad-Rock has also been oustpoken against President-elect Donald Trump. He led hundreds of people in an anti-hate rally last month after playground equipment in Brookyln's Adam Yauch Park — named for the late member of the Beastie Boys — was defaced with swastikas and pro-Trump graffiti. Speaking to the crowd, Ad-Rock described his bandmate as "someone who taught nonviolence in his music, in his life, to all of us and to me."
