Here’s How Ava DuVernay Honored Each ‘A Wrinkle In Time’ Star

Can it just be 2018 already?

There are many reasons to be excited for Disney's A Wrinkle in Time — Ava DuVernay is directing, it's the first time a woman of color is behind the camera for a film budgeted over $100 million, it's an adaptation of Madeleine L'Engle's beloved novel, and it has a stellar cast — but here's another: it seems the chemistry between the cast and crew seems like a true family.

Filming has wrapped and DuVernay, who also directed 2014's Selma and 2016's 13th, has been blowing up Twitter with tributes to each famous face. The notes are sweet and a bonus is we get to see many of the characters in stills from the movie.

First up was Rowan Blanchard, the former Girl Meets World star, whose role has yet to be disclosed. DuVernay called Blanchard "a real artist with a voice."

Next up is Moonlight's André Holland, who plays Principal Jenkins. DuVernay calls Holland "a dream of an actor and a man."

Then came Deric McCabe — Charles Wallace Murry in the film — who DuVernay calls an "incredible discovery."

The next person getting love was The Office and The Mindy Project's Mindy Kaling. Turns out Kaling, who plays Mrs. Who, was DuVernay's first casting idea.

Next came Pan star Levi Miller, who plays Calvin O'Keefe. DuVernay praised this rising actor as having "great power" and "a gentleman already."

Then there was Legally Blonde alum and Big Little Lies star Reese Witherspoon, who plays Mrs. Whatsit in the film. While DuVernay said Witherspoon "blew me away" with talent, it was the actress' kindness that shone, too.

Needing no introduction, DuVernay gave a shout-out to Oprah. The former talk show host, who plays Mrs. Which, was called "literally out of this world" by the talented director.

Then there was Storm Reid, who plays Margaret "Meg" Murry in the film. DuVernay had high praise, calling Reid "one of the most formidable actors I've worked with."

The crew, often the unsung heroes of the film, also got some much-deserved social love.

Now there's only one thing to do: sit back, wait for a trailer to drop, and get ready for April 6, 2018.
