Ellen DeGeneres Gets A Big Surprise When Ashton Kutcher Donates $4 Million To Her Wildlife Fund

"You’re always thinking about everyone else."

Beloved talk show host Ellen DeGeneres is usually the one surprising her guests — be they audience members or A-list stars — but this time, she was the one getting the shock of a lifetime. It all happened when Ashton Kutcher stopped by for an impromptu visit and made a major donation to the talk show host's Wildlife Fund, The Ellen DeGeneres Center for The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund.

Just as DeGeneres is preparing to depart for Africa, where she'll officially start building a campus to help protect gorilla, Kutcher showed up to say he'll miss her — after all, she is his neighbor. The Ranch star, joined by business partner Guy Oseary, then began explaining a new tech company they're investing in, a money transferring platform named Ripple.

Kutcher went on to explain about meeting with Ripple's honchos — in this case, Chris Larson and Brad Garlinghouse — who had pointed out how they want to be an ethical organization that gives back to "people that are doing good in the world."

"It was around the exact same time that I ran into you on the beach and you were telling me about this amazing birthday gift that you got from [wife] Portia [de Rossi]," Kutcher said. "And you explained to me that if you weren't doing [the show], that what you would be working on is that project. You would be saving the gorillas."

Kutcher went on to note how DeGeneres is one to "never ask anyone for anything, ever" and Oseary chimed in with "we're here to help you." They then tell DeGeneres that they talked to Larson and Garlinghouse at Ripple about "this amazing human being" who "all they ever do is think about other people they can give to."

"You're always thinking about everyone else," Kutcher said. "And we wanted to show you that people are thinking about you. So, on behalf of Ripple, we'd like to give you $4 million."

The Finding Dory star is stunned and speechless. With the simple push of a button, she transferred the $4 million (or 3,454,000,000.00 in Rwandan francs) into her Wildlife Fund via Ripple. Easy as that — no oversized check needed.
