This Year Has Been Tough, But Anna Kendrick Has The Perfect Song To Get Us Through

"We're still here!"

2016 has been a tough year. We've witnessed a divisive presidential election, various worldwide tragedies, and the deaths of countless beloved celebrities. It can be all too easy to throw in the towel and lose hope. But Anna Kendrick has an uplifting message for anyone struggling, and she shared it through song on Tuesday night's Late Show With Stephen Colbert.

Anna was on the show to promote her new memoir Scrappy Little Nobody. In addition to being an author, actress, and all-around charming person, she also happens to be a very talented singer. Since Colbert is a fan of musical theater himself, he asked his guest if she wanted to sing anything.

"2016 has been kind of a bitch," Anna admitted, which is why she chose to sing "I'm Still Here" from the Stephen Sondheim musical Follies.

As you'll hear, the song is a pretty perfect summary of what so many of us are feeling this year, as well as a reminder that we've gotten through it — and we'll get through whatever next year throws at us, too. So when the ball drops on 2016, just remember these lyrics:

I've run the gamut, A to Z
Three cheers and damn it, c'est la vie
I got through all of last year
And I'm here
