9-Year-Old Raises $6,000 At His Lemonade Stand To Help Pay For His Baby Brother's Medical Bills

“I just want to help Dylan. He’s my baby brother.”

When the warmer weather starts, lemonade stands often spring up. In addition to quenching our thirst on a hot day, the profits from the stands often go towards worthy causes. Such is the case with one little boy named Andrew Emery from Greenwood, SC, who recently set up a lemonade stand to help his parents pay the medical bills of his baby brother Dylan.

Dylan has Krabbe disease, a severe neurological condition that causes muscle weakness, delayed mental and physical development, fever, and difficulty breathing, moving and swallowing.

With Dylan at the hospital, Andrew set up a lemonade stand on a Saturday morning at a used truck dealership.

And he made $6,000 in just two hours.

The 9-year-old, his friends, and the rest of Team Dylan sold lemonade, T-shirts, and accepted donations to help with the medical bills.

According to CBS Pittsburgh, Dylan raised $5,860 at the stand plus he raised $1,300 from a Friday benefit concert and $5,600 from a GoFundMe page for Dylan

The team also sells bracelets and cups to support the cause.

After the roaring success of the sale, the #TeamDylan Facebook page expressed their gratitude. They wrote, "Folks we are ecstatic with the amount of support this morning! Andrew and friends did a[n] awesome job and exceeded their goal by their wildest dreams! Thanks for all of the support ..."

... "This is what a community should be all about. Coming together for a common cause!"

Andrew told the Index-Journal of Greenwood about what he wants to do with the money, "I'm gonna spend it on doctor's bills and stuff, and buy him a teddy bear, too."

He added, "I just want to help Dylan. He's my baby brother."

The elder brother keeps in contact with Dylan at the hospital through Facetime. He revealed that he's looking forward to hugging his brother when he gets home.
