What This 82-Year-Old Woman Does Will Bring A Tear To Your Eye

Elizabeth Laird is a very special woman.

Elizabeth Laird, 82, was honored with the Yellow Rose of Texas award by the state of Texas on behalf of the U.S. Army's 1st Cavalry Division last week for her unique brand of volunteerism.

Laird, known as 'The Hug Lady,' goes to airports where she hugs soldiers who are deploying overseas and returning home, as seen in this video by Marko Slavnic. She's been doing it since 2003.

"The Soldiers deserve the recognition," she told the Fort Hood Sentinel. "They're the ones keeping us safe."

The Yellow Rose of Texas Award is given through the governor's office to women who demonstrate outstanding community service.

Please share the hug lady's goodness with your friends.
