5-Year-Old Dresses Up As A Superhero While He Helps Feed And Care For Stray Cats

"He must have this magical effect that the cats can pick up."

Kia Griffin and Kris Papiernik have been rescuing cats in Philadelphia for 10 years. The independent cat rescuers try to provide homes for as many of the cats as possible, but sometimes they are unable to adjust to domestic life. Therefore, the duo care for them by feeding them and trying to get them spayed and neutered.

They have been caring for approximately 45 cats in different groups that they've dubbed Kolony Kats, Backyard Boys, Stray Kitty Crew, Meow Squad, Gas Station Kitties, and Indoor Kitties.

On the weekends, Papiernik and Griffin have some extra special help when their 5-year-old nephew, Shon, comes to help them feed the cats.

And Shon gets ready for the occasion by dressing up as a superhero.

Shon has dressed up as Spider-Man, Batman, and even a Ninja Turtle to feed the cats.

Papiernik told The Dodo about the special reason Shon likes to dress up.

"He said it makes him feel like a superhero for animals.”

Shon became involved in looking after the cats when he was only 3 years old. The family explained that they were initially hesitant because they thought that the feral cats would run away from a young child. The opposite ended up happening. Cats that would ignore Papiernik and Griffin gravitated towards Shon.

Papiernik said, "He'd scratch their bellies and scratch their heads. It was amazing to see these cats who wouldn't even allow us to touch them, but immediately took to him. He must have this magical effect that the cats can pick up."

The cat rescuers' story was retweeted on social media and it has started to go viral. People are loving Shon's kind heart and for being a superhero for our four-legged pals.
