Here Are The Top 5 Regrets People Have Before They Die

"Forget regret, or life is yours to miss." -RENT

Except for paying taxes, death is the one thing you can’t avoid in this great adventure we call life.

There's no denying that no matter what the circumstances, death is really scary. It's completely final, and there isn't any time to go back and change anything you've done or to do anything else. Understandably, this stark realization leaves many with regret and sadness.

AsapTHOUGHT has outlined the top 5 regrets that people have as they reach the ends of their lives.

1. Not being true to yourself.

"I prefer to be true to myself, even at the hazard of incurring the ridicule of others, rather than to be false, and to incur my own abhorrence."
Frederick Douglass

2. Working too much.

"Man. Because he sacrifices his health in order to make money. Then he sacrifices money to recuperate his health. And then he is so anxious about the future that he does not enjoy the present; the result being that he does not live in the present or the future; he lives as if he is never going to die, and then dies having never really lived."

The Dalai Lama, responding to the most surprising aspect of humanity.

3. Not expressing their true feelings.

"But feelings can't be ignored, no matter how unjust or ungrateful they seem."
Anne Frank

4. Losing touch with friends.

"True friendship multiplies the good in life and divides its evils. Strive to have friends, for life without friends is like life on a desert island... to find one real friend in a lifetime is good fortune; to keep him is a blessing."
Baltasar Gracian

5. Not choosing to be happy often enough.

"Bad things do happen; how I respond to them defines my character and the quality of my life. I can choose to sit in perpetual sadness, immobilized by the gravity of my loss, or I can choose to rise from the pain and treasure the most precious gift I have - life itself."
Walter Anderson
