4 Ways To Feel More Inspired In The Morning

Because you can't spell "rise and shine" without "inspire."


1. Create a morning playlist with your favorite songs.

If you need some extra incentive to get moving (and grooving) in the morning, look no further than your music library. In 2013, a study published in the Journal of Positive Psychology found that participants who listened to positive, catchy tunes were able to boost their happiness and improve their moods in as little as two weeks. By creating a playlist of your favorite upbeat songs, you can harness these health benefits. Think about it: if you start every day to the perfect soundtrack, imagine where you'll be in a year. 

2. Jump-start your day with the goodness of juice.

Because you often become dehydrated while you sleep, drinking fluids as soon as you wake up is necessary to replenish your body and prepare it for the day. Too many mornings, however, start with a large cup of coffee, which further dehydrates you. Instead, opt for a tall glass of your juice of choice. Just make sure to read the label carefully to avoid added sugar and "from concentrate" blends. Orange juice, for example, is fortified with calcium and vitamin D. These two nutrients don't just deliver a slew of physical health benefits, but can also help with anxiety and depression

3. Get a good stretch.

Morning stretches aren't just for Winnie the Pooh; they can help make your morning better, too. This light, relaxing exercise relieves muscle tension, which will come in handy if you're sitting at a desk all day, and releases endorphins, the neurotransmitters responsible for elevating mood, and alleviating pain and depression. You can even take these stretching benefits to the next level by enrolling in a morning yoga class or practicing a daily yoga routine at home. 

4. Smile.

Believe it or not, smiling is another easy way for your body to produce endorphins. To save time, you can even practice smiling while doing your morning stretches. (And hey, saving time will give you one more thing to smile about.) The best part? Smiling throughout the day won't just make you feel happier and more inspired, it'll also inspire countless others.
