This 1995 Version Of 'Batman V Superman' Will Stir The Nostalgic Fire Within You

Simpler times.

Superman himself might be going unnoticed on a walk through Times Square in New York, but the hype elsewhere for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice has never been higher. With the massive success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe up to this point, DC is hard-pressed to make films that produce a similar level of fanfare and critical acclaim. So it's no surprise that every trailer, poster, and quote from parties involved with the upcoming epic have been dissected endlessly — everyone knows there's a lot riding on its success.

With that in mind, maybe instead of trying to make the perfect superhero film for 2016, director Zack Snyder and team should have taken some of the pressure off and had fun with a throwback style. Like, for example, the cinematic style of the '90s.

Thanks to a fan trailer edited by YouTube user Sleepy Skunk, we now know exactly what that would have looked. After adding the classic Batman score, VHS effects, and other tricks of the era, footage from the upcoming film becomes instantly nostalgic. Also, it's somehow much funnier and doesn't look like it's trying so hard.
