You Only Have 12 Minutes To Impress Your Potential Suitor. This Is How, Research Suggests.

No pressure, but time is ticking.

12 minutes is barely enough time to order a meal at a restaurant, but this might be the only time that you have once you're on a date, a new study claims.

AXA has recently surveyed 2000 respondents asking various question about their dating experiences. The results of the study suggest that it only takes 12 minutes for someone to decide if they actually fancy their date or not.

Yep. 12 minutes is all you have to make a good impression, so you better not waste time.

"That initial step in a relationship can be a nervous experience, but an important one — our research shows you need to think about the little things that will mean a lot on that first date," explains Chris Jones, AXA Head of Brand, in their official press release. "It appears first impressions are formed very quickly!"

So how do you leave a good impression on a first date?

The study claims that there a couple of things you should pay attention to during these 12 minutes.

64 percent of all respondents agreed that smiling was the most important on a first date.

A little smile here and there never hurt nobody, right?

"Human beings are programmed to return a smile so smiling, even when you are nervous, will get you and your first date off to a good start," psychologist Donna Dawson comments on the study.

Keep Eye Contact.

More than a half (58 percent) of respondents surveyed said that they will judge their potential suitor based on the eye contact — and decide if the date was a successful or not based on that.

Eyes on the goal, people. You have to let them know that you care.

Wear Something Smart.

Almost a quarter (23 percent) said wearing "smart clothes" to a first date was important to them. Meaning, you might want to keep it classy if you want to leave a good impression. Though, of course, there's an exception to every rule.

"Wearing clothes that make you feel both smart and comfortable will help you to relax, which in turn provides the confidence to create a great first impression," the psychologist explained in AXA's press release states.

So now you know, guys. Make every minute (out of those 12) count.
